These eggs are not listed as "free range" but as "Cage Free" and according to my Nutritionist daughter that means they are stuffed into indoor houses with space equivalent to the size of a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. They might also have had their beaks removed to control their feeding.
Even 'free range' can be misleading. They can open the door to the hen house for 5 minutes a day and be designated as such whether or not they are able to get outside.
I would like to be proven wrong. I think the only way to get humanely raised chickens is from a local farmer you can trust.
