Re: Bayside Furnishings Onin Roast Hazelnut Project Table

I do hope someone benefits from what I learned from my mistake! The assembly was pretty easy, I just wish I had remembered about those panels needing to go in backwards! Next time I read through the instructions, I will be sure to highlight important ones like that so I don't miss it! Also, let me also add that if this is going in a room where the doorway is narrower than the depth of this table, DO NOT use glue on the dowels to secure the table top because you will not be able to remove it, especially if you use wood glue like I did (the glue that was included was not holding very well). It was pretty secure without using glue for the table top. I at least had the foresight to know that we couldn't glue the table top down because at some point we will need to be able to take the table top off so that we can get it out the door and down the stairs since our plan is to move in a couple of years.

Unfortuantely, as my husband tried to disassemble one section of the shelving using a rubber mallet as instructed by Bayside, he managed to damage a panel (it is, after all, made of MDF and particle board, not solid wood) even though he tried to gently tap it loose. I am now awaiting a return call from Bayside to see how much it will cost to get replacement panels. Hopefully it won't be too expensive. If it is too cost prohibitive, we will have to figure out how to repair the damage done or just live with it since the shelf will likely cover the damage and won't be visible anyway.
