I think lots of merchants compete for the limited space at Costco. I was once told by a merchant handling out samples that they have to sell a certain amount during the introductory phase and Costco will then determine whether to continue carrying the product. If the first introductory batch does not sell out, then I think Costco will not continue to carry the product.
