We didn't buy this particular set but we do have the 7-piece set. For ours, there's a button at the bottom of the candle. At the time you want it to come on, say 6pm, press on the button till it blinks one time, then release. The candle will now come on at the same time everyday and stay on for 5 hours. To turn it off, just press the button again.
