I don't know what "ME" means without guessing it has to do with the dates the letters precede. I do know an asterisk (*) on the price sign means last of stock - item will not restock/return when sold out. A price ending in .97, i.e. $4.97, often means it's a seasonal item, and will not restock when sold out.
(I am a former Costco employee, however, policies may have changed since my employment).
