Warning: don't use these to control portable room heaters!!! Nearly burned my house down the other day, I have a receiver controlling a 6 outlet power strip, into which I plugged a small oscillating space heater. About 5 minutes later I smelled something electrical burning, then heard some pops and crackling, and went to the wall where the Capstone receiver was plugged in and MELTING before my eyes. Works fine with table lamps in the house, but fans draw so much current they kill this unit. +++ I also recommend testing the receiver and all 2 transmitters at the store, I took my set home, and one of the transmitters didn't work at all, battery was fine, but no go. Bought a replacement set at Costco, and at the returns desk they kindly let me test both new transmitters with an extension cord and a small lamp I'd brought along.
These units are very cheezy in feel, and only for light duty use, folks. We still use a set, no problems with table lamps, so far.
