This bag is a good option when traveling in the US as it falls within most airlines' carry-on limits. But if your friend is planning to travel on budget airlines in and out of USA, he/she may need to check the limits. Some budget airlines have carry-on limits that are smaller e.g. 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm.
